660 km walkathon for Peace in Togo

Togo is going through a very difficult political crisis. This year the walk is dedicated to creating a spirit of Peace for Togo. The Togolese people hope for and wish peace. The Togolese people deserve peace for their country. Peace will be good for the country and for our people living around the world.

Mission

It is in this spirit of peace that the 5th edition of Move Forward, an event which started in 2014 (Ottawa-Montreal) and continued in 2105-17 (Kingston-Ottawa), is being held. Move Forward is a community event to raise funds for not for profit organizations that support vulnerable people in Gatineau-Ottawa.

Objectifs : amasser 2,500$

Move Forward 2018 is dedicated to peace in Togo. It will be a walk of 660 kms from Mount Brydges (20 kms from London, Ontario) to Ottawa, which is the same distance as from Cinkasse in the north to Lome in the south of Togo. The walk will start on October 4th and finish on October 22nd, a total of 20 days or 800,000 steps to inspire and support peace in Togo. Move Forward 2018 hopes also to inform Canadians and Togolese in other countries about the realities facing Togo. The objective is to rise $2500. All of the funds raised will go directly to a not for profit organization in Gatineau-Ottawa.

The walkers in Move Forward 2018 will arrive in Ottawa at the symbol of Peace, Nelson Mandela Place. This is a reference to the Column of Peace in Lome, the capital of Togo.
